What is Enid Welcome Table?

Enid Welcome Table, EWT, is a community meal on Sunday evenings for ANYONE who is hungry.

Every week a different community group plans, prepares, and serves  our meal to those in need.

Sundays were the only day of the week the food insecure weren't fed in the city of Enid, without religious expectations. When EWT heard of this, we knew we wanted to put forward an opportunity for a meal with

NO STRINGS ATTACHED, so that the most vulnerable in our city do not go without food

from Saturday until Monday.

EWT hopes that you, or your organization, will want to fill the void with us by helping to serve a meal one Sunday a year. We are calling upon the community of Enid to help care for our citizens who are in desperate need of help.

Will you and your organization consider signing for a Sunday to prepare a meal for those in great need? By doing so, we as a community, will show those in Enid who live in constant food insecurity that they have not been forgotten and are valuable and cared for by many.

EWT is generously hosted in the kitchen at Central Christian Church.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is my organization agreeing to do?

Your organization will plan a meal, purchase any necessary ingredients, prepare the meal, serve the meal, and help clean up after meal service.

How many people are we cooking for?

Please plan on feeding 125 guests. Typically we serve 50-70 people however planning on almost double allows us to serve seconds, or thirds. Every week attendance is different and we would rather have more than not enough!

What should a meal consist of?

Meals should include an entrée, two side items, bread, and a dessert.

What is the time frame of EWT?

3:00PM - Kitchen opens for prep/cooking

4:00PM - Meeting with EWT Committee member to discuss service and assign volunteer roles

4:30PM - Meal service begins

5:30PM - Meal service ends and clean up begins

6:00PM - Go home (This is an approximate time and may fluctuate within 10 minutes)

What is provided by Enid Welcome Table?

Our kitchen at Central Christian Church is a treasure to our service. There you will find roasting pans, two convection ovens, commercial stove top with 6 burners, commercial refrigerators and freezers, mixers, and just about any other utensils needed for cooking.

At EWT we use real plates, glasses, and utensils for our guest so there is no need to provide paper products for food service.

Protip: If you plan on doing some chopping and have a knife that you prefer bring it with you!

Drinks: We provide tea and water for our guests and have tea bags and ice machine in our kitchen.

Our kitchen also has a commercial dishwasher making clean up a breeze.

Can my organization prepare the meal at home?

Yes! EWT has two roasting pans that can be borrowed to assist in this preparation.

Can my organization hand out fliers or other promotional materials to EWT guests?

No. Our service is provided to our guests with no strings attached. This is the heart of EWT and in an effort to keep this expectation we do not allow materials to be handed out.

How many people should my organization bring to volunteer?

We recommend 10 to 15 volunteers. Our committee has many volunteers that are there every week to assist with the meal.

Have more than 20? No problem! There are plenty of opportunities to serve for everyone on Sunday.

Are children allowed to volunteer?

Yes! Yes! Yes! Kids are always welcome as volunteers! We ask that the proper amount of adult supervision be provided when a large group of children or teens are volunteering.
